Where to find the early May Plant Sales around the Piedmont Triad

VERY, VERY COOL. WELL, NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT OUR WEATHER. MICHELLE, I UNDERSTAND WE HAVE SOME HEAT COMING OUR WAY, RIGHT? YES. WE’VE ALREADY I FEEL LIKE WE’VE ALREADY HAD THE HEAT. WE CERTAINLY HAVE. IT CAME TODAY, RIGHT? UPPER 70S. IT’S A LITTLE WARMER FOR THIS TIME OF THE YEAR THAN WE’RE USED TO. 74 TYPICALLY. BUT IT IS GOING TO HELP WITH SOME OF OUR SPRING BLOOMS OUT THERE. AND WITH THE HEAT THIS WEEK, WE HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET OUT IN THE GARDEN. SOME OF THESE PHOTOGRAPHS COMING IN FROM OUR VIEWERS, PAUL GERST HERE SHARING SOME OF HIS BLOOMS WITH YOU. THIS ONE IS A CLOSE UP USING A MACRO LENS. THEY’RE JUST INCREDIBLE SHOTS. ALSO FROM SOME OF OUR OTHER VIEWERS THAT CONTINUE TO SEE THAT THEY’VE GOT SOME SURPRISES IN THEIR GARDENS. LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL ROBIN EGGS INSIDE. DEBORAH GARNER. UH, PANSIES. THERE YOU CAN SEE JUST A GORGEOUS SHOT THERE. AND OF COURSE, PLENTY OF SUNSHINE THIS WEEK AS WE TALK ABOUT SUNSHINE AND MOSTLY DRY DAYS. NOW, COMFORTABLE MORNINGS, WE’VE GOT TEMPERATURES IN THE 50S. THAT’S ABOUT IT. AFTER THAT, WE START TO HEAT UP PRETTY QUICKLY. BY LUNCHTIME, WE’RE IN THE 70S AND 80S EACH DAY. IT LOOKS LIKE THIS WEEK, TUESDAY, AND THEN LATE WEEK FOR THOSE THUNDERSTORM CHANCES AND RAIN. IT LOOKS MINIMAL AT BEST. SOMETHING ELSE TO LOOK FORWARD TO. THE SPRING PLANT SALES. THIS HAPPENS LATER IN THIS WEEK. NORTH CAROLINA COOPERATIVE EXTENSION HAS A FUNDRAISER, SO FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WE HAVE MORE ON OUR WXII 12. NEWS, LOCAL NEWS SITE. SO REMEMBER TO BRING CASH AND CHECKS FOR THAT. NOW AS YOU’RE GETTING IN THE GARDEN. WE ARE STARTING TO SEE ABNORMALLY DRY CONDITIONS AGAIN. ROCK CREEK CHAPEL HILL ALL THE WAY BACK INTO THE TRIAD. NOW STARTING TO MOVE FROM GREENSBORO THROUGH AREAS LIKE COLFAX AND THE KERNERSVILLE, AND THEN HEADING DOWN INTO UPTOWN LEXINGTON. WE’RE SEEING THOSE ABNORMALLY DRY CONDITIONS NOW AT THE AIRPORT IN GREENSBORO TO REPORTING THAT WE’RE THE 12TH DRIEST SO FAR FOR APRIL, 2.31IN BELOW NORMAL. AND IT’S BEEN A WARM APRIL, TOO. SO WE’VE ALREADY STARTED OUT WARM. NOW WE’RE HEADING TOWARD MAY WITH WELL ABOVE NORMAL HIGHS BY SOME TEN DEGREES MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE IS TO BLAME FOR THE HEAT AND ALSO ALOFT WE’VE GOT A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE IS KEEPING US FROM THOSE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THAT ARE SEVERE TO OUR WEST, 78 DEGREES IN BURLINGTON FOR HIGHS TODAY. HIT 77 IN GREENSBORO, BUT 78 THROUGH KING WINSTON-SALEM ARARAT AND UP THROUGH MOUNT AIRY AT ABOUT 77. NOT BAD IN GALAX TO 76 DEGREES TODAY AND AT LEAST LOW TO MID 70S THERE TOMORROW. TEMPERATURES ARE STARTING TO FALL INTO THE 60S. YOU’RE AT 66 IN GREENSBORO, COMFORTABLE EVENING OUT THERE. AND NOW WE SEE MORNING LOWS THAT ARE REFRESHING. ABOUT 56 DEGREES BY ABOUT 10 A.M. YOU MAY BE IN THE LOW 70S AND THEN HEATING UP TO NEAR 82 DEGREES. ONE OF THE OTHER THINGS IS WE HAVE A SOUTHWESTERLY BREEZE. IT DOESN’T TRANSPORT A LOT OF MOISTURE FOR US, SO WE’RE NOT SEEING HUGE INCREASES IN HUMIDITY, BUT IT DOES MEAN WE HEAT UP A LOT MORE THAN WE’RE TYPICALLY USED TO. REMEMBER YOUR PETS TWO TOMORROW. YOU KNOW, IF YOU’RE THINKING ABOUT BRINGING THEM WITH YOU IN THE CAR, YOU DON’T WANT TO DO THAT. MAKE SURE YOU’RE FOLLOWING YOUR ROUTINES TO. IF YOU’RE TAKING KIDS TO SCHOOL OR TO PRESCHOOL, MAKE SURE YOU’RE CHECKING IN THE BACK SEAT TOMORROW WITH THE HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE REALLY INTENSE OUT THERE, AND IT’S GOING TO FEEL A LOT HOTTER IN THE CARS 80 DEGREES OUT THERE. AND MAKE SURE YOUR PETS HAVE WATER TOO AND ARE NOT LEFT OUT IN THE FULL SUN. IT’S GOING TO BE A HOT 153 DEGREES IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH HIGHS NEAR 74, AND WE’VE GOT FULL SUNSHINE FOR YOU BY TUESDAY. THAT CHANGES FOR THE AFTERNOON AFTER 3 OR 4:00 WE START TO SEE THOSE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ROLL OUR WAY. A FRONT IS APPROACHING. IT DOESN’T NECESSARILY MEAN WE’RE GOING TO SEE A LOT OF ACTION, BUT SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS LOOK TO BE OUT OF THE PICTURE FOR US IN THE SUSTAIN TO OUR WEST. SO SHOWERS A POSSIBILITY. BUT NOT A GUARANTEE ON TUESDAY, RAIN CHANCES ARE STILL PRETTY LOW AT 30%. YOU CAN SEE MOST OF THE NORTHEAST WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO SEE A SHOWER OR TWO AS THAT FRONT APPROACHES. IT DOESN’T COOL US DOWN THOUGH. IT KEEPS US WARM, HOT IN FACT, LOW TO MID 80S THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND.
