After a somewhat embarrassing loss to Argentinian club River Plate, 2-0, early in the year, Mexico bounced back in impressive fashion to win the 2025 CONCACAF Nations League tournament. To win the event, Mexico first defeated a strong Canada team, 2-0, behind goals by star Fulham striker Raul Jimenez, who scored the opener in the very first minute of the match. Canada was never able to recover from that early setback.
Following the impressive Canada win, Mexico then defeated Panama 2-1, again thanks to a brace by Jimenez, who was in unbelievable form at the time. The win did not come easily for Mexico, however, as the match was tied 1-1 in the 90th minute, when Mexico earned a penalty, which Jimenez cooly slotted home to earn Mexico the Cup victory.
Switzerland, meanwhile, is 1-1-1 in its last three matches, most recently defeating Luxembourg 3-1 behind goals by Ruben Vargas, Breel Embolo, and Miro Muheim, with all three goals being scored in the first 30 minutes.
Tune in to FOX Deportes at 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday to catch Mexico try to win a third match in a row when it takes on Switzerland in beautiful Salt Lake City, Utah, as preparations for the 2025 Gold Cup continue.
