TOKYO, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- Tokyo stocks extended their winning streak for the 11th straight session on Tuesday, sending a key index to another 21-year closing high on overnight gains on Wall Street.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) rose 80.56 points, or 0.38 percent, from Monday to 21,336.12, its highest finish since November 27, 1996. The broader Tokyo Stock Price Index, which includes all shares on the market's First Section on the TSE, was also up 4.19 points, or 0.24 percent, to 1,723.37.
On Monday, all three major Wall Street indexes -- the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500 index and the Nasdaq Composite -- hit record highs, thanks to expectations for US economic growth. (end) mk.gta
